Workshop on Symbolic Dynamics on finitely presented Groups

Workshop on Symbolic Dynamics on finitely presented Groups

A one-week workshop on symbolic dynamics will be held at Santiago de Chile on the dates December 15-19, 2014. It aims to gather Ph.D. students, young investigators and experts working in particular on one- as well as multidimensional subshifts, tilings, cellular automata and on symbolic actions of (finitely presented) groups, where we hope to see some of the latest developments in each of those fields. The workshop will consist of 3 minicourses and several individual talks. (Participants interested in presenting their work are invited to send a title and abstract in order for the organizers to select the individual talks.)

Remark: We would like to point out that this workshop is part of a three week period of conferences on dynamics taking place in Chile in December 2014. We start our Dynamic month with a School on Orbit Equivalence and related fields (held in Santiago during December 1-5) followed by the traditional bi-annual international conference Information and Randomness 2014 (held in Puerto Varas in Chile’s lake region during December 9-12) to finish with the above described workshop. People interested in participating in two or all three conferences should contact the respective events’ organizers.
